Job Description

Our client is a family owned company that has been a leader in innovative metal manufacturing for over 100 years. We are exclusively partnering with them on an Operations Manager role that will transition into their future General Manager for their location near Carlsbad.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing all manufacturing, planning, safety, quality, and delivery of product to customers in multiple industries including medical device, aerospace, and defense. Our client is looking for a high energy and polished leader for their over 100 employees that can empower a strong management team to continue to hit their performance goals while building out the structure & processes to enable continued future growth. The expectation for the Operations Manager is to become the General Manager to lead the entire operation. We are offering a strong base salary, bonus, and relocation package for the right individual.

Operations Manager Responsibilities

  • Responsible for operational efficiency and customer satisfaction improvements.
  • Monitor production levels, solving issues, and making planning & scheduling changes as needed.
  • Deliver world class customer service levels and implement a customer focused operational culture.
  • Partner with the Supply Chain Manager & Production Manager to balance capacity with available labor and material requirements.
  • Interface with customers and suppliers as a representative of the organization to develop lasting relationships and resolve issues.
  • Develop the Master Production Schedule to ensure product meets internal & customer standards relating to quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Implement a Visual Factory throughout the worksite.
  • Develop KPI’s to evaluate performance and identify areas of additional improvement.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement projects to reduce waste and improve productivity.

Operations Manager Requirements

  • A Bachelor degree in Engineering, Operations, or Management is required.
  • An advanced degree is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience managing a P&L is required.
  • At least 15-20 years of experience managing Operations & Manufacturing is required.
  • Previous experience in metal manufacturing (CNC machining, stamping, fabrication, MIM, or related) is required.
  • Must be a strong leader with excellent communication, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Able to demonstrate a passion for manufacturing and building teams.
  • A desire to be developed into the organization’s General Manager in the future.
