Job Description

We have been engaged by an industry leading company that is looking to bring on an Accounting Director. This is a newly created role that will oversee the GL accounting and address any technical accounting matters that develop. They are looking for a thought leader who will understand how the inputs and data reveal more efficient ways to run the accounting and finance processes.

Duties:

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of financial reporting process, general ledger structure and organizational objectives
  • Lead application of existing GAAP and adoption of current and future accounting standard changes by interfacing with required departments to ascertain underlying data to document and support accounting treatment consistent with accounting guidance
  • Ensure timely and accurate period financial close including production of financial statements
  • Oversee bonus revenue accounting process, program performance, and accruals
  • Coordinate the monthly commission AR and revenue booking process
  • Become subject matter expert on company’s processes for accounting for the key balance sheet areas (intangible assets, sales commissions, contingent consideration, and debt)
  • Oversee the payroll accounting function
  • Oversee GL accounting team and ensure all GL accounts are reconciled on monthly basis and reconciling items addressed as necessary
  • Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine accounting transactions
  • Respond to inquiries from senior management regarding financial results and special reporting requests
  • Perform other tasks as required

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related area;
  • CPA required
  • Experience with Microsoft GP highly preferred
  • Nine to fifteen plus years of experience in a similar financial position;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint; Advanced Excel skills;
  • Experience with insurance brokerage operations, preferred but not required
