Lucas Group has been retained by a Non-profit Research Organization on a Director of Marketing and Communications search.

Our client has been around for over a century and were recently named “The Top Company to Work For in Arizona”. Our client operates one of the world’s oldest observatories which was named “The world’s 100 most important places” by TIME, a research institute and is home to the brightest minds/astronomers in the country. Their goal is to raise awareness regarding astronomical phenomena, conduct continuous research and discovery and promote STEM literacy among end customers. They are expanding their current operations to become one of the world’s most well-known observatories which required they add a Director of Marketing and Communications to their Executive team. In this position you will be responsible for building a national Marketing and Brand communications strategy from the ground up. You will work with other members of the executive team including Science, Technology, Development and Education in effectively building brand awareness among prospective customers and major stakeholders. Responsibilities

  • Create the entire Brand Marketing strategy from the ground up
  • Create Brand Logo, Brand Identity, Brand Story and brand promise for the organization
  • Increase brand awareness across stakeholders like employees, customers, research institutes, investors and trustees
  • Develop and execute a multimedia strategy and manage press relations when required
  • Work cross functionally across teams to publicize fund raising programs and events
  • Analyze financials and marketing data and present to senior management
  • Manage the marketing team and budget

Requirements

  • 8 to 10 years’ experience building a national marketing strategy
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience managing a team
  • Experience building a PR strategy in a science environment a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or related field
  • Familiarity with scientific principles, experience working with scientists and a passion for astronomy a plus!
