Job Description

Exclusively partnered with renowned construction company in Los Angeles who is committed to growth and exceptional employee experiences.  This client seeks a Director of Learning and Development to coordinate with the University program to enhance and develop the employee experience, succession plan and to meet the business objectives of this client. Must be able to access and develop gap analysis on the current environment and ultimately implement an elevated program. Director level candidates must show progressive successes and also have mindset to come in and learn this business!  Prefer candidates with building, construction or architectural experiences.



Education Requirements:

  • Four (4) year bachelor’s degree in organizational development, instructional design, leadership management, or related field of study
  • Post graduate studies preferred
  • Advanced certification(s) related to field of study preferred (i.e. ATD certification)
  • Ongoing commitment to professional development and enhancement of core HR knowledge and practices


Experience Requirements:

  • 10 + years of demonstrated progressive experience as an HR/L&D professional
  • AEC industry experience highly desired


Responsibilities:

  • Assess, design, develop, and manage innovative, sustainable learning solutions, tools, resources, and programs to address the L & D needs across client. Initiatives should have multi-platform content to support targeted learning and behavioral change using best practices in learning theory, change management and communication (e.g. blended solutions, manuals, program guides, toolkits etc.)
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of all L & D solutions, measure return on investment, and track business impact completing ad hoc reporting as necessary
  • Manage all aspects of multi-dimensional project including planning (on time completion), meeting budget, ensuring role clarity, and milestones clearly articulated.
  • Facilitation, gap analysis, evaluation of ongoing content and tools along with making recommendations consistent with the goals of the organization
  • Develop a strong understanding of the business client base and company culture
  • Determine learning and development needs within the organization to meet current and future business needs; identify, recommend and implement solutions
  • Design/select and deliver management and leadership training, professional skills training and workshops to meet customized departmental needs; manage the development and ongoing delivery of business related training largely led by subject matter experts within the organization
  • Research and recommend outside vendors to conduct training on specific topics, including online training, and live training when appropriate
  • Partner with the HR team on projects related to various organizational development initiatives, such as organizational design, succession planning, engagement and recognition
  • Serve as a partner and coach to managers within the organization
  • Research, recommend and implement methods of identifying, developing and retaining top talent (such as high potential programs, mentoring program etc.)
  • Play a key role in the design and delivery of the Company’s Performance Management process and design and deliver performance management training for managers and EEs
  • Play a key role in the design and delivery of the firms new-hire onboarding program and training; create/develop/deliver company orientation, help ensure well organized, positive onboarding experience
  • Evaluate effectiveness of the Company’s L & D initiatives
  • Oversee the Company’s Learning Management Software (LMS) and partner with the manager of HR systems to continually develop and enhance our use of technology related to the L & D function
  • Facilitate high levels of collaboration and be an excellent facilitator/partner with HR colleagues on team initiatives; help ensure a coordinated and well executed approach to the provision of HR services within the organization
  • Assume key leadership role in developing and implementing the future strategic direction and educational opportunities offered
  • Partner with Department Leaders and the broader leadership team to facilitate organization and culture change, ensuring we nurture our core culture while we grow to $500+ MM
  • Create and implement core curriculum for all team members
  • Implement Company development process with all existing managers, all EEs will have a personal development plan and all managers will be trained on how to execute
  • Provide authentic feedback and coaching to managers, through effective influence, drive change(s) in management behavior to support a culture of accountability and high performance focused on excellence
  • Implement new manager training and align with overall Development process
  • Partner with the HR team to assess new hire onboarding program that involves full culture and values immersion for all current and new EEs and align with the overall Development Process (include strong focus on field immersion)
  • Facilitate training and meetings as needed (both small and large group)
  • Establish and manager vendor relationships


Skills:

  • Strong background with a strategic focus in L&D, including experience designing and delivering training programs
  • Background in talent and organizational development, firm grasp of how these impact company performance
  • Excellent commination and presentation skills; engaging facilitator
  • Excellent people skills, demonstrated success building and maintaining strong internal and external relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with managers and business leaders in an influential manner; comfortable interacting at all levels within the company
  • Experience with Performance Management process including training and advising managers
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
