The Business Systems Analyst supports the software critical to the company’s operations. As part of the IT team, this person’s key responsibilities include supporting the developing the software applications critical to the business operations, inclusive of Sage X3 ERP, CRM, eCommerce/EDI, warehouse management, and transportation. 

Must be strong in business operational workflows and processes, and be able to translate that from the user to the business software.  Must be knowledgeable of business operations to support accounting, purchasing, sales, warehouse operations, distribution, and marketing.  Must be proficient in looking across all business systems that support the operations, designing and implementing enhancements to improve operational efficiency, and making changes to the applications as needed.  Must be able to support information flows between business applications.  Should have experience in master data management concepts, data analysis, reporting, business intelligence, and data storage.

Must be able to work with third party vendors that provide support to the various business systems throughout the organization.

 Should have experience in a distribution environment, and be familiar with transportation/carrier concepts and systems.

Experience Requirements:
  • Must have working knowledge of a current ERP business software, and experience in the technical support is such as environment.  Looking for more of a programmer analyst than a power user.
  • Must have experience with ERP data structures, processes, application framework, meta data, user interfaces, execution environment (4GL), workflow engine, security and administration, service oriented architecture, web oriented architecture, and visual processes.
  • Must be proficient in SQL.  Should be relatively proficient in supporting programming tools such as Java, XML, and other similar applications.
  • Experience with Crystal Reports highly desirable.  Experience with Business Intelligence (such as Sage Enterprise Intelligence) is a plus.
  • Experience with carrier systems highly desirable, in particular with FedEx and UPS.
  • Experience with warehouse management, inventory, distribution, marketing, CRM, product data, eCommerce, and website support strongly desirable.
  • Experience in supporting EDI preferred, in particular with external programming of EDI records to support customer requirements.  EDI 850, 855, 856, 865.
  • Experience supporting wireless infrastructures, barcode scanning, label printing, document management, and security infrastructures is a plus!
  • Experience with FDA and PCI compliance is an added plus.
  • Ability to interact with network engineering is a strong plus, although does not need to be proficient in network engineering environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Daily support of critical business applications (ERP and other).
  • Troubleshooting of issues with and between business applications (ERP and other).
  • Identifying opportunities to improve business applications, business processes, and business intelligence.
  • Develop and support workflows and processes within and between business applications (ERP and other).
  • End user training on business applications.
  • Automation and enhancements to business applications as needed.
  • Keep business applications current and relevant to business operations.
  • Perform updates/upgrades to business applications as needed.
  • Drive initiatives within the business applications, inclusive of making sure end users fully utilize the supported business applications and transact within those applications as much as possible.  Make sure the business applications remain relevant to the business operations, support the strategic direction of the company, and minimize workarounds outside of supported applications.
  • Adapt the business applications to the business operations (not forcing the operations to conform to software applications).
