Job Description

Title:  Human Resources Director

Location:  Akron, OH

Lucas Group is working on a retained search for a Human Resources Director with an industry-leading organization. This person will lead a team and report directly to the President, working closely with the business’ senior leaders in order to develop an HR agenda that closely supports the overall objectives of the business. The successful HR Director acts as an employee champion and change agent. The HR Director maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit’s financial position, its strategic and mid-range plans, its culture and its competition.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive people strategy, prioritizing initiatives that will help to deliver the business strategy
  • Influencing the strategic agenda, leveraging relationships at key levels in the organization
  • Proactively design and execute an HR agenda that creates value for the business now and in the future
  • Ensure that HR strategy and plans translate into concrete actions and tangible results
  • Drive the talent management cycle within the business
  • Drive continuous development reviews, planning for succession and building plans to develop leaders towards desired values, behaviors and skills
  • Consult continuously with line managers, providing HR expertise, policy guidance and interpretation
  • Ensure delivery of high quality local HR services and coordinates additional corporate or other resources as needed to meet local business needs
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues by conducting thorough and objective investigations
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring compliance.
  • Leads the talent acquisition process, ensuring high quality hires, promotions and transfers
  • Identifies training needs for the business and IDPs, participates in evaluation of training programs to ensure success.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • MBA or other post-graduate degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development is a plus

Experience Requirements:

  • 10+ years of related HR experience
    • Minimum of 5 years of executive and leadership coaching
    • Minimum of 7 years of employee relations experience, providing clear guidance in difficult situations
  • Experience supporting a distributed workforce is a must
  • Track record of successfully supporting a sales workforce is a plus
