Lucas Group has been retained in partnership with a manufacturing based client with national and global presence, to identify their top HR talent for their West Coast site. This Human Resources Director will sit in their Santa Clarita, CA office as a member of their leadership team. Candidates with solid and progressive HR experience, including strong HRBP skills and strategic talent development experience are ideal candidates.
The HR Director will partner with the company's executive team and senior leaders to achieve the strategic and operational goals of the business and their departments. The HR Director is responsible for proposing, developing, implementing and coordinating company programs, polices, and procedures covering all areas of Human Resources. Additionally, the HR Director should have a strategic knowledge of talent acquisition, retention, employee relations (performance management, development, and engagement), compensation, benefits, HRIS, safety, compliance, organizational and work design, diversity, risk management, compliance, and culture initiative. The HR Director is responsible for assuring all critical human resources functions are delivered timely and effectively for client organizations while working with a team of HR professionals in developing and leading company-wide initiatives.
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the strategic direction of multiple business units; acts as an advisor and business partner to leaders; develops and implements mid and long-term strategic HR goals and priorities.
  • Develop, direct and oversee recruitment and hiring strategies for all exempt and non-exempt operations positions and corporate positions to attract, grow, develop, and retain team members throughout the organization. Conduct ongoing assessments of the talent, skills and knowledge critical for sustaining high levels of organizational performance.
  • Partners with the Manager, HRIS to develop and maintains a Human Resource Information System (HRIS) that meets the organization's personnel information needs.
  • Partner's with COE's to identify business needs, deliver initiatives, and applies solutions within the business to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Maintain current and professional knowledge and management of legal and governmental employment regulations; and compliance and reporting requirements, pertaining to all Human Resources functions. Must understand Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) requirements.
  • Engage with external labor counsel or legal agencies, pertaining to employer and employee related issues.
  • Drives business results through the development of key organizational effectiveness strategies and processes.
  • Identify, monitor and assess all areas of employer-related risks or exposure, and communicate and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to continually monitor Human Resources practices and performance efficiencies. Provide ongoing direction and support for the development and standardization of processes and procedures.
  • Direct the preparation of HR information requested or required by legal or regulatory agencies, third-party administrators and consultants; and review and approve (if applicable) all information for submission.
  • Review and oversee employee disciplinary actions by managers; review employee appeals through established complaint procedures and serve as the final recommendation in the approval process for employee terminations.
  • Plan and coordinate periodic employee-related Company events and communication meetings, as required.
  • Prepare effective and timely performance evaluations, conduct reviews, administer salary adjustments, promotions or disciplinary actions and facilitate additional training or mentoring as needed.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel as needed.

Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Business Administration or related field a plus.
  • Human Resource certification (SPHR/GPHR/SHRM-SCP) or other relevant certification is a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing equal employment opportunity and civil rights, occupational safety and health, workers' compensation, wage and hour requirements, etc., including, but not limited to the following statutes and their comparable state and local laws (where applicable): Title VII, ADEA, Equal Pay Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, FLSA, ADA, OSHA, FMLA, ERISA, and NLRA.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, with a minimum of 5 years of senior level experience.
  • Experience and knowledge working with various HR systems such as Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), Payroll Systems, Learning Management Systems LMS), and Talent Management Systems (TMS). Experience with ADP, Workforce Now, Oracle, Fusion, Taleo, etc. a plus
  • Previous experience in multi-site and multi-state operations. Global/International experience a plus
  • Experience working in a dynamic, fluid, and fast paced environment
  • Proven ability to quickly establish credibility and respect, influencing senior managers, building strong working relationships, and driving a successful HR strategy
  • Proven ability to manage a strong team of HR Professionals to successful completion of departmental goals and objectives
  • Proven ability to make sensible, intelligent decisions in difficult and deadline driven situations
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills
  • Ability to lead in a global, matrix environment

Qualifications

  • Effective communication skills and ability to influence and empower at all levels within the organization, from individual contributors through executive leadership teams.
  • Excellent project management skills with a proven ability to design and implement people strategies and policies that drive business results
  • Must possess advanced computational skills; must have the ability to compute rate, discounts, interest, bonus and commissions. Must be able to prepare and analyze data figures and apply data. Strong understanding of company finances.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into strategic initiatives and drive them to successful outcomes.
  • Ability to travel as needed
