Experience Requirements:

This facility is a food manufacturing plant that manufactures products for the food service and retail industries.

  • The Plant Manager will control manufacturing location and distribution center activities to achieve company profit and growth objectives primarily through controlling product quality, operating efficiency, and costs associated with the location.  All activities must be conducted in accordance with company policies and procedures and all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Assure all products meet Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Standards and the specifications of the company, its customers, and government agencies (FDA, USDA, City and County Health Dept.).
  • Manage and control assets to achieve and improve cost objectives while meeting or exceeding customers’ expectations.
  • Manage location, safety, and health programs to meet OSHA and company’s standards with emphasis on improving employee morale by reducing and eliminating employee injuries and worker’s compensation claims.
  • Manage and control facility equipment and processes to meet all environmental regulations of the federal, state, and local governments (IEUA, SCAQMD, EPA, ADEM, and NPDES).
  • Assure that company’s HR practices are administered fairly and in accordance with company policies. This includes hiring, promotion, and discipline of location employees.
  • Prepare, implement, and manage capital and operating budgets timely and effectively.
  • Manage to attain service levels of 99% case fill and 97% order fill. Manage to continuously improve order accuracy and reduce customer complaints.
  • Manage to meet or exceed acceptable scores/ratings on all internal and external audits.
  • Maintain facilities and grounds in good repair and consistent with high standards.
  • Maintain and encourage employee participation in new and creative ideas for cost control, new products, and process enhancements to aid in the longevity of company.


Responsibilities:

Candidates for this position must have significant proven success leading world-class food or beverage manufacturing operations.

  • 10 years of food manufacturing experience in a supervisory or management position.
  • High level of knowledge and skills relating to plant sanitation, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Processes), food manufacturing equipment, and processes.
  • High level of business savvy and ability to deal with both daily facility problems and with highest levels of management (internal and external).
  • Good working knowledge of product formulas, costing, and experience in bringing R&D endeavors to fruition.
  • Excellent leadership and team building skills.
  • Ability to aggressively manage change, handle employee disputes, and maintain good employee morale.
  • Proven track record of culture change.
  • Knowledge and understanding of HACCP, SQF, BRC.
  • World Class Manufacturing and Lean Six Sigma experience highly preferred.
