Job Description

The Market Segment Manager is responsible for generating increased top line sales and margin revenues implementing action plans with the sales team within their assigned market segments. The Market Segment Manager works in concert with the entire enterprise to construct product line strategies, competitive positioning and pricing, new product introductions, creative selling programs, advertising campaigns, implement specific marketing initiatives, conducting market research that yields new products, and champions the company's product brands.

As Market Segment Manager your work product and responsibilities include having an expert understanding of the products, competitors, price landscape and customers for your assigned market/product segments. You will create and implement creative campaigns, develop promotional programs and customer promotions, deliver market opportunity reports that investigate current, new markets and product categories making recommendations to the management team for investment approvals. This position requires a results oriented approach, attention to detail, creative thinking and the ability to build business cases that recommend specific product requirements and market potential.

We Are Looking For:

  • Candidates with marketing, technical sales, product management and/or engineering skills with industry experience.
  • Action oriented professionals with application understanding of branded tool business, preferably in the tool or HVAC industry.
  • A team player with strong results orientation and the personal flexibility that can meet changing deadlines.
  • Creative self-starter with high energy and commitment to travel nationally up to 20% of the time.
  • Adept listening and questioning skills.
  • Works at keeping their technical competencies up-to-date. Invests the time and effort to learn about changes in the market and industry.

Main Responsibilities

  • Implementing approved action plans to grow or improve margins in product categories and market segments.
  • Building business cases for product and/or market segment development.
  • Evaluate, identify, and recommend product ideas and marketing programs that expand our product portfolio.
  • Develop, maintain and use market intelligence to recommend alternate sales strategies and pricing.
  • Measure the effectiveness of current and implemented marketing programs.

Education & Abilities

  • 4 year college degree required. MBA preferred.
  • 4 years of industrial marketing, product management or technical sales experience is required.
  • Strong Excel and/or database skills are a must. Microsoft Word and PowerPoint a must, other general computer skills are valuable
