Senior Counsel (In-House), Irving, TX

Multi-billion dollar, international manufacturing company is seeking to hire a high energy, visionary attorney and leader with significant experience in government contract law and compliance.

Qualifications:

  • JD from a top law school and stellar academic record;
  • License to practice in TX preferred but not required
  • Practiced law at a high level for 7 to 15 years’ within a law firm and/or corporation. “In-house” experience highly preferred;
  • Possess a confident and pragmatic approach to providing legal and business advice to executives and leaders of all levels;
  • Innovative and solutions oriented;
  • Ability to communicate with professionals of all levels in order to build strong internal and external relationships;
  • Deep experience in US Government contracting and compliance;
  • Strong negotiating skills with the ability to identify risk and resolve issues effectively in line with the business;
  • Proven ability to provide clear, practical guidance to a variety of business leaders and executives;
  • Proven ability to communicate at all levels across a multi-national organization;
  • Self-starter with a flexible but confident approach willing to “roll sleeves up” and work with strong personalities;
  • Ability to accommodate necessary domestic and international travel up to 20% of the time.

Requirements:

  1. Ability to provide Strategic Advice on a range of corporate, commercial and procurement matters;
  2. Strong negotiation skills and experience drafting, reviewing and communicating key terms of Commercial, Sales and Government Contracts and possess a history of navigating the procurement process with the US government.
  3. Ability to advise on and manage disputes through mediation, litigation and other resolution methods. Communicate effectively with executives on risk, cost and settlement options. Manage litigation budget and outside counsel.
  4. Ability to undertake strategic projects related to acquisitions, divestments, partnerships and joint ventures
  5. Collaborate with Export Control Officers and other officials, attorneys and compliance professionals on Global Compliance policies related to export control laws and support the implementation of corrective action to correct or maintain appropriate compliance;
  6. Provide expertise, leadership and training related to all regulatory matters including operational compliance related to supply chain, FAR, ITAR, Special Security Arrangement, Anti Bribery and Corruption, Anti-Trust and Export Control;
  7. With assistance of outside counsel, provide general labor and employment advice;
  8. Support functional leaders on health, safety, property and environmental matters, HR and employment contracts, union matters;
  9. Support and collaborate with Divisional General Counsels across business lines domestically and internationally to deploy initiatives such as training and Global compliance to changes regulations.
